The BMW 8 Series blends luxury and performance. If you go with the Competition model, then the M8 provides 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) – 617 hp (460kW) which is enough for a majority of people, but people who are looking for more can opt G-Power, the aftermarket tuning firm, which currently provides the G-Power G8M Bi-Turbo, an 820 hp (603 kW) supercar.
G-Power provides three tunes for the BMW M8, offer enhanced both horsepower and torque – up to 738 pound-feet (1,000 Newton-meters). The oomph from the M8’s twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 has both software and hardware enhancements. The turbochargers have bigger compressor wheels while the factory engine control unit receives new programming. There are Downpipes with or without sports catalytic converters.
The other two tunes are also available but are less robust. The entry-level modification enhances the M8’s output to 720 hp (529 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. The other tune, together with the software upgrade and downpipes with the sports catalytic converters generates 770 hp (566 kW) and 686lb-ft (930 Nm) of torque. G-Power features 21-inch Hurricane RR forged wheels with a black diamond-cut finish.
The G-Power tunes provide various performance levels, which is quite good for customers who are not interested in an add-on 200 hp (149 kW). While BMW retailers may find it difficult to move 8 Series models off their lots. Good to know that a few aftermarket firms are offering to M8 owners who are willing to take BMW’s M brand to a different level.
