The BMW M3 and M4 are the two of the most high-performance cars in the German automaker’s lineup, but the M2 Competition is also not lagging behind too much. The BMW tuning specialists at G-Power planned to push the BMW M2 Competition into the supercar realm due to some new hardware and electronic tuning.
The BMW M2 Competition is quite similar to the performance of the M3 and M4 due to the same twin-turbo S55 3.0-liter inline-six engine.
Here, both the turbochargers get an advantage from CNC-milled compressor wheels with larger diameters and lower weight for extra boost pressure and a quicker spool rate. New turbine blades with capped ends cut down on exhaust gas temperature while a CNC-milled exhaust and compressor housing with enlarged inlets and outlets maximize efficiency.
Due to a new stainless steel exhaust system with quad 90-mm tailpipes and flow-optimized downpipes, backpressure is minimized. This not only produces more power in the G-Power M2 Competition but also makes a loud sound.
After the installment of hardware, the S55 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six is loaded with the G-Power Performance Software V4. This application is customized to each vehicle and programmed to the needs of the base vehicle while on G-Power’s four-wheel chassis dynamometer.
After everything is done, the G-Power M2 Competition generates 680 horsepower at 6,500 RPM and 634 lb-ft. of torque at 4,750 RPM. The vehicle gains 62 mph in mere 3.2 seconds from standstill while the top speed is 205 mph.
Customers can choose for a new set of in-house G2M RS coil-overs that lower the ride height and optimize handling. As an add-on, drivers can pick G-Power’s Hurricane RR forged wheels that minimize rotating mass for even improved performance. Upfront, the Hurricane RR wheels measure 20 x 9.0 with 245/30 R20 high-performance tires while the rear comes in with a staggered 20 x 10.5 setup with 285/23 R20 tires.
Presently, the new G-Power M2 Competition is available as a complete upgrade program. Customers can choose for individual accessories and upgrades as well.
