Leading German tuning organization Gemballa recently disclosed that it would be working on a proprietary hypercar project. The Gemballa hypercar was announced earlier this year. Officially, the development process has started with the help of funds sourced from a number of investors.
Gemballa has shown a new image displaying the direction it plans with the hypercar. The company has introduced that it plans to display a prototype at the beginning of 2020 with development ongoing.
The goals of the project are to build a hypercar that touches 100 km/h within 2.5 seconds and 200 km/h in around 6.5 seconds. But information on the drivetrain is yet to be disclosed, we are told that the unnamed Gemballa hypercar will make heavy use of carbon fibre and lightweight design to attain this. Earlier releases have suggested that the engine will be pur combustion with around 800 hp.
Steffen Korbach, Gemballa’s CEO, told: “We’re now focusing on developing one of the last pure sports cars, a modern classic with an amazing look and exceptional performance. A pure GEMBALLA car requires petrol and sound. Not all new trends are appealing.”
In the history of Gemballa, the hypercar would be the first one. Till now, Gemballa has only changed existing hypercars. The image displays a mid-engined hypercar with a huge rear wing and strong aerodynamic cues. The use of carbon fibre is clear to see within the front spoile and cannards, the door bonnet, the side panels and the rear wing.
